This is the JAMES S. ROBINSON APOTHECARY PRESCRIPTION LEDGER from Dec. 17,
1884 through August 31, 1886.
JAMES S. ROBINSON was a very large APOTHECARY in Memphis, Tn., which served
Memphis and the Mid-South, including parts of Arkansas, West Tennessee,
Missouri, Mississippi and Alabama.
Each Prescription was filled with the initials of the druggist who filled it,
along with the date and the number. This Ledger starts with number 3400 and
goes through August 31, 1886 - 4,657 prescriptions filled.
Prescription pads have gone a long way since 1884 - these prescriptions are on
scraps of paper, in both pen and pencil and signed by the Physician. Some of
the Doctors probably served for one side or the other in the Civil War.
As the pictures show, the ledger is thick and heavy and large - 18" x 12 1/2"
x 2 1/2".
Please examine the pictures closely and email with any questions.
